Overview of Civil Aviation Passenger Transport in Mainland China
As the impact of the typhoon subsided, China’s civil aviation passenger volume continued to climb week by week.
During the week, there were 115,000 passenger flights. This averages to 16,400 flights each day. This is a 2% increase from last week.
It is also 5% higher than the same time in 2024. Compared to 2019, it is up 15%.
Total passenger numbers reached 16.53 million for the week. This averages 2.361 million per day. This is a 3% increase from last week and a 5% increase from last year. 2024), and a 22% increase compared to 2019.
The flight completion rate was 93.6%, up by 2 percentage points week-on-week, while the load factor held steady at 84.6%.

Domestic aircraft utilization saw an overall uptick week-on-week
From July 21 to July 27, 2025, Chinese airlines had an average of 10.41 flight hours per aircraft each day. This is an increase of 2.61 percentage points from the week before.
Wide-body jets averaged 9.41 hours per day, rising 2.35 percentage points week-on-week. Narrow-body jets averaged 10.56 hours per day, but dipped 2.64 percentage points compared to last week.

Overview of Civil Aviation Fares in Mainland China
The average all-inclusive domestic airfare was RMB 956.5, down 3% from the previous week and 11% lower than the same period in 2024.
The average revenue per available seat kilometer (RASK) on domestic routes was RMB 0.540. This is a 2% drop from last week and a 12% drop from last year compared to 2024.

Overview of Passenger Traffic at China’s Major Airports
This week, Pudong, Guangzhou, and Capital airports ranked as the top three in passenger volume nationwide.
As Typhoon Wipha's effects lessened, Zhuhai airport saw a 16% increase in passenger traffic. Shenzhen Airport also had a 15% rise in passengers compared to the previous week. Most other major airports also saw a small week-on-week increase in passenger numbers.
Wenzhou (+32%), Fuzhou (+30%), and Xiamen (+10%) had the highest passenger growth rates compared to last year.

Overview of Top 20 Airlines by Flight Volume
This week, China Eastern Airlines, China Southern Airlines, and Air China topped the national ranking for total flights operated.
Shenzhen Airlines grew by 7%, China Southern Airlines by 4%, and Spring Airlines by 3%. They had the fastest week-on-week growth in flight volume among the top 20 carriers.
Tibet Airlines grew by 17% compared to last year. China Express Airlines increased by 16%. Xiamen Airlines saw a 14% rise. These three airlines had the highest flight volume growth among the top 20 airlines.
